about

Known internationally as "Papus Diabaté", son of the late guitarist Zani Diabaté of Bamako Mali. This album, released in 2003, features some of Bamako's finest musicians and percussionists. Papus' debut album, KARA BARA, produced by Timbre Drums has received international attention and radio play. As a special addition to this largely percussion based recording, Diabaté collaborates with two North American artists, Lindsey and Grace Schust, both percussionists and singers from New Hampshire. The final track (bonus track) "Yiriba ye" was arranged by Lindsey Schust and Sinaly Papus Diabaté. This modern arrangement of a traditional Malian folksong, was a runaway hit in 2003 on Mali Radio, showing the ability of music to bring people together from different cultures. Enjoy this album. It's a treasure!
